22.01.2023. Common Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) 1 at L.B.T. grain terminal, Liepaja (A.Klepers, I.Brediks). Quite rare during winter months. Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus) 1 at Pulvera str., Liepaja (I.Brediks, P.Daknis). Rare during winter months. Wood Pigeon (Columba palumbus) 4 (2 ad & 2 2cy) at Seaside Park, Liepaja (P.Daknis et al.). Quite rare during winter months. Carrion Crow (Corvus corone) 1 at Liepaja harbor N pier, Liepaja (A.Klepers et al.). Present at least since 15.10.2011. (D.Krigens). Common Starling (Sturnus vulgaris) ~400 at L.B.T. grain terminal, Liepaja (A.Klepers, I.Brediks). Large number at one place rare during winter months. Hedge Accentor (Dunnock) (Prunella modularis) 1 at Zirgu islet, Liepaja (A.Klepers et al.). Rare during winter months. White Wagtail (Motacilla alba) 1 at landfill "Kivites", Dienvidkurzeme county (A.Klepers). Rare during winter months. Rock Pipit (Anthus petrosus) >5 at Liepaja harbor S pier, Liepaja (A.Klepers et al.). Large number at one place during winter months. 21.01.2023. Taiga Bean Goose (Anser fabalis) 2; Tundra Bean Goose (Anser serrirostris) 30 at Nica fields, Dienvidkurzeme county (A.Klepers et al.). Horned Grebe (Podiceps auritus) 1 in the Baltic Sea next to Mietrags, Dienvidkurzeme county (A.Klepers). Northern Harrier (Circus cyaneus) 1 ad M at Nica fields, Dienvidkurzeme county (A.Klepers et al.). Present at least since 07.01.2023. (K.Millers, I.Grinerte). Quite rare during winter months. 15.01.2023. Common Moorhen (Gallinula chloropus) 4 (2 ad & 2 2cy) at Sarkandaugava distributary, Riga (A.Klepers). Quite rare during winter months.
14.01.2023. Gadwall (Anas strepera) 1; Eurasian Bittern (Botaurus stellaris) 1 at Darzini distributary, Salaspils county (A.Klepers). Both species quite rare during winter months. Purple Sandpiper (Calidris maritima) 2 2cy on Liepaja harbor S pier, Liepaja (K.Millers). Very rare during winter months.


13.01.2023. Taiga Bean Goose (Anser fabalis) 2; Tundra Bean Goose (Anser serrirostris) 8; Greylag Goose (Anser anser) 2 + 1; Whooper Swan (Cygnus cygnus) 72 at Nica fields, Greylag Goose (Anser anser) 31 + 4 at Bernati polder, Dienvidkurzeme county (K.Millers). First spring migrants!

10.01.2023. Purple Sandpiper (Calidris maritima) 1 2cy on Mangalsala pier, Riga (I.Denisovs). Very rare during winter months.
08.01.2023. Moorhen (Gallinula chloropus) 1 2cy; Redwing (Turdus iliacus) 1 at Zirgu islet, Liepaja (K.Millers). Both species quite rare during winter months. Arctic Redpoll (Acanthis hornemanni) 1; Twite (Carduelis flavirostris) >5 at Zirgu islet, Liepaja (K.Millers).

07.01.2023. Northern Harrier (Circus cyaneus) 1 ad M at Nica fields, Dienvidkurzeme county (K.Millers, I.Grinerte). Water Rail (Rallus aquaticus) 2 at Ezerkrasts next to the sewage pipe, Liepaja (K.Millers et al.). Wood Pigeon (Columba palumbus) 4 next to Grinvalti, Dienvidkurzeme county (K.Millers, I.Grinerte). All three species quite rare during winter months. Northern Hawk-Owl (Surnia ulula) 1 at Nica fields, Dienvidkurzeme county (G.Grandans, K.Millers, I.Grinerte). Present since 22.10.2022.
